Component To Hdmi Converter
So, after many months of saving, you bought and mounted your very own plasma TV on the wall of your living room. Then you wanted to connect your old Xbox just for a couple of games to kill time. Finally, you found out that there isn’t and input on your TV that fits your cables.
If that’s your case, then you need to buy a component to HDMI converter in order to be able to still use those devices and appliances that only use the 3 component cables.
That’s because standard TVs require analog signal to display on their screen. And obviously, devices that were designed to provide signals for those TVs, like previous generation consoles of VHS players, provide analog signal.
However, high definition TVs, such as plasma televisions require digital signal. Digital signal allows for a much faster, bigger, and purer transfer of information, which results in a higher video resolution and better sound quality. Some devices that emit digital signal are the new generation video game consoles and blu-ray players.
Analog signal is sent through component cables, digital information is sent through an HDMI cable. Therefore, if your source is old and your receiver is new, you probably need a component to HDMI converter.
So, instead of connecting your Xbox to the plasma TV directly, what you will do is connect your Xbox to the component to HDMI converter using the component cables that came with your video game console. Then you will connect your component to HDMI converter to your plasma TV, using an HDMI cable. Chances are your plasma TV didn’t come with an HDMI cable. Don’t worry; you can buy it at the same place where you get the component to HDMI converter.
I must warn you that a component to HDMI converter is an expensive little gadget. With a price tag around $150 dollars, you might want to consider if instead of getting a component to HDMI converter, that money would better be invested in getting an Xbox 360. Some places let you trade your old Xbox so that you can get a discount on the new video game console. So, it might be worth it.
Of course, it all depends on whether you plan to substitute your old devices for new ones that support HMDI. While you certainly will want at least one that supports HDMI to get the full capabilities of your plasma TV, that doesn’t mean that you want to discard your old DVD players and video game consoles. If you plan to keep them around, then a component to HDMI converter may be a good investment.
